In what may come as a big surprise to most of you, researchers Tamarra James-Todd, from Brigham and Women’s Hospital Massachusetts, USA have found that chemicals in your daily use personal products like moisturizers, nail paints, soaps, hair gels etc. can increase the risk of getting type 2 diabetes.

These chemicals known as phthalates can disrupt the functioning of endocrine glands causing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Once your glucose metabolism gets affected, it becomes extremely difficult to control blood sugar levels without external help or making major changes in your diet and lifestyle.
